ILL-BEFITTING ATTRIBUTES OF GOD IN THE BIBLE
Praise be to Almighty God, the creator of everything, He whom all good attributes belong to him.
Truly God is one which everybody believe and every different religion has their way of calling God but what make us different is the concepts and attributes or qualities given to God.
It is hilarious to see some qualities which Bible used to qualify God which is so ungodly or unreasonable to see it in a book called the book of God.
If Bible is complete the word of God there should be no mistake or any unqualified attributes given to God in it but there is no way men will write a book and we will not find such things like this in it, that is why God says in Qur’an 4:82 “Do they not then consider the Quran carefully? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein much discrepancies”.
These are some of the ill-befitting attributes given to God in Bible but Qur’an corrected most of it.
It sound foolish to say God has weakness and foolishness but it look so funny to see it in Bible in 1 Corinthians 1:25 “Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men”. But Almighty clarified that he is mighty that has no weakness and the all wise that has no foolishness in Qur’an 2:220, 2:228, 2:239, 3:6, 3:62, 4:56 etc.
The funniest verse which bible used to described God like Sango (a god in yoruba land that fire and smoke used to come out of his mouth and nostrils) when God was angered, it is mentioned in 2 Samuel 22:9. “There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it”. Even not only that fire and smoke came out from his mouth and nostril but also consuming fire according to Hebrew 12:29 “For our God is a consuming fire”.
Bible qualified God has hissing God, which is so bad to say God sound like snake or cat. It is mentioned in Isaiah 5:26 “And he (God) will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth”, it also mentioned in Isaiah 7:18, Zech 10:8
It is inappropriate to say God that is most powerful finished work and he need to rest and refreshed after his work, but Bible says God rested and refreshed in Exo. 31:17 “for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he RESTED and was REFRESHED”. and also mentioned in Genesis 2:2 “And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he RESTED on the seventh day from all his work which he had made”, that’s why God says in Qur’an 50:38 “And certainly We created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six periods and there touched Us not any fatigue”.
Can God make a mistake not to talk of regret or repent or grief? But bible said God used to regret his actions. In Gen. 6:6 “The lord regretted having made human beings on earth and was grieved at heart”, God also regretted his actions in so many places in bible such as Gen 6:7, 1 Sam. 15:11, 1sam. 15:35 etc. God created anything he wills and HE is the most perfect beyond any mistake as he says in Qur’an 75:4 “Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers.” see more in Qur’an 23:14, 82:7 etc.
Bible made it known that no one can see God (Exodus. 33:20, John 1:18) but the same bible said they saw God and darkness was under his feet (when God is not devil, how darkness?) And also described as cherub rider and he do fly as it is said in 2 Samuel 22:10-11 “He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under his feet. And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: and he was seen upon the wings of the wind.”
It is only happened in bible where God Almighty was looking for his creations when they hide for him, we saw this from Gen. 3:9,10 “And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art You?. And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and i hid myself.” but God that nothing can hid for him says in Qur’an 3:5 “Truly, nothing is hidden from God in the earth or in the heaven.” also mentioned in Qur’an 5:109, 5:116, 10:61, 14:38, 40:16 etc.
Bible qualified God as a jealous God from Isaiah 42:13 “The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies”. Exodus 20:5 “for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God”, Exodus 34:14 “For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God”.
King James version of Bible made it known that God is rumor carrier in Obadiah 1:1 “The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord God concerning Edom; We have heard a rumor from the Lord”, but Qur’an corrected this mistake by qualified God as giver of glad tidings Qur’an 2:213 “Mankind were one community and Allah sent Prophets with glad tidings” (some versions of the Bible have changed this mistake).
Bible called God A SLEEPING GOD that need to wake up before he will know next thing to do in Jer 44:23 “Wake, Lord! Why are you asleep? Awake! Do not abandon us for good”. God sleep not, not to talk of waking him up as HE said in Qur’an 2:255 “Neither slumber, nor sleep overtake Him”.
Bible ascribed sons to God Gen. 6:2 “the sons of God, looking at the women, saw how beautiful they were and married as many of them as they chose.” also mentioned in Psalm 2:7, Romans 8:14, Luke 3:38, exodus 4:22, jer. 31:9, John 3:16 etc. God says in Qur’an 112:3. “He begets not, nor was He begotten” read more in Qur’an 10:68, 19:91-93, 37:151-152, 112:3, 2:116.
God used to roar (sound of lion, or loud voice especially with pain, cry, anger or other strong emotions) in Jer. 25:30 “Lord roars from on high, he thunders from his holy dwelling-place, loudly he roars at his own fold, shouts aloud like those who tread the grape at all the inhabitants of the land”
Bible qualified God as A BARBER in Isaiah 7:20 “That day the Lord will shave, with a razor hired from the other side of the River (with the king of Assyria), the head and the hair of the leg, and take off the beard, too.”
Bible make it known that God lack some knowledge that he didn’t know what is hidden in mind or what someone has done in secret according to what happened in Bible when Adam and eve ate the tree and hid themselves from God and God has to ask them this question in Gen. 3:11 “Who told you that you were naked?’ he (God) asked. ‘Have you been eating from the tree I forbade you to eat?”. When God says in Qur’an 68:13. “And whether you keep your talk secret or disclose it, verily, He is the All-Knower of what is in the breasts (of men)”.
This is only happened in Bible where a man wrestled with God and prevailed, Gen. 32:29 He said, ‘No longer are you to be called Jacob, but Israel since you have shown your strength against God and men and have prevailed.’ This happened from Genesis 32:25 when someone (which is God) wrestled with Jacob until daybreak, Jacob now hooked him down until he blessed him. God that has power all things says in his last revelation chapter 2:20 “surely Allah has power over all things”.
Everything is not possible for God according to bible and he can retreat whenever he saw those that are more powerful. Judge 1:19 “And the Lord was with Judah; and he drove out the inhabitants of the mountain; but COULD NOT drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had CHARIOTS OF IRON.”
I believe many Christians have not seen these in their book, even a layman can never qualify God the bible qualify God because it is so ungodly to say Almighty God perform all these things but we should not forget what Allah says in Qur’an 2:79 “Woe, then, unto those who write down, with their own hands, [something which they claim to be] divine writ, and then say. “This is from God,” in order to acquire a trifling gain thereby; woe, then, unto them for what their hands have written, and woe unto them for all that they may have gained!”
