Incest in the Bible
Incest in the Bible refers to sexual relations between certain close kinship relationships which are prohibited by the Hebrew Bible. These prohibitions are found predominantly in Leviticus 18:7–18 and 20:11–21, but also in Deuteronomy 27:22.
Sex with his Daughters
So they made their father drink wine that night. And the firstborn went in and lay with her father, and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose. It happened on the next day that the firstborn said to the younger, “Indeed I lay with my father last night; let us make him drink wine tonight also, and you go in and lie with him, that we may preserve the lineage of our father.” Then they made their father drink wine that night also. And the younger arose and lay with him, and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose. — Genesis 19:33-35, NKJV
(The next morning the older said to the younger: Last night I slept with my father. Tonight, it’s your turn. We’ll get him drunk again and then you sleep with him)
Sex with his Step-Mother
And it happened, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine; and Israel heard about it — Genesis 35:22, NKJV
(Reuben (Jacob’s firstborn, his eldest son) had sexual intercourse with Bilhah, his father’s wife)
Sex with his Daughter-In-Law
When Judah saw her, he thought she was a harlot, because she had covered her face. Then he turned to her by the way, and said, “Please let me come in to you”; for he did not know that she was his daughter-in-law. So she said, “What will you give me, that you may come in to me?” And he said, “I will send a young goat from the flock.” So she said, “Will you give me a pledge till you send it?” Then he said, “What pledge shall I give you?” So she said, “Your signet and cord, and your staff that is in your hand.” Then he gave them to her, and went in to her, and she conceived by him. — Genesis 38:15-18, NKJV
(Out of this incestuous relationship between a father-in-law and his daughter-in-law, twins were born, who were destined to become the great-grand-fathers of Jesus Christ. See Matthew 1:3)
Brother Raped his Sister
Now when she had brought them to him to eat, he took hold of her and said to her, “Come, lie with me, my sister.” But she answered him, “No, my brother, do not force me, for no such thing should be done in Israel. Do not do this disgraceful thing! And I, where could I take my shame? And as for you, you would be like one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, please speak to the king; for he will not withhold me from you.” However, he would not heed her voice; and being stronger than she, he forced her and lay with her. — 2 Samuel 13:11-14, NKJV
(Amnon being much stronger than Tamar, he forced her “raped” and lay with her)
Son Raped his Step-Mothers
So they pitched a tent for Absalom on the top of the house, and Absalom went in to his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel. — 2 Samuel 16:22, NKJV
(Absalom went into the tent in and had intercourse with his father’s wives)
